How the day is built
Typical awake times at 9 to 11 months run 3 to 4 hours. From 7:00 am to 7:30 pm, two 75-minute naps leave 10 hours awake, split 3 hr, 3 hr 20 min, 3 hr 40 min. That is 2½ hours of day sleep and 11½ hours overnight.

A typical 9-month-old who wakes at 7:00 am naps twice, at about 10:00 am and 2:35 pm, for about 1¼ hours each, and goes to bed around 7:30 pm, awake 3 to nearly 4 hours between sleeps. Change the times below and the whole day refits.

With a 7:00 am start and a 7:00 pm bedtime, the morning stretch drops to 2 hours 50 minutes, under the typical 3. Starting the day at 6:30 am keeps every stretch at 3 hours or more, as the second example shows.
Most babies keep two naps past their first birthday. See the 2 to 1 nap transition for how the day changes.
Two, one mid-morning and one early afternoon.
Typically 3 to 4 hours, shortest in the morning and longest before bed.
The planner fits naps to the bedtime you choose. With a 7:00 am wake-up, about 7:30 pm keeps every awake stretch in the typical range.
Babies under one move 15 minutes a night. The fall back planner takes the same times and lays out each night.
